First Degree takes you inside Sing Sing Correctional Facility, where incarcerated students are working toward college degrees and building new possibilities for their futures. As you watch, you’ll meet people challenging stereotypes, taking responsibility for their growth, and discovering how education can create opportunities for change.

You’ll see how learning can strengthen confidence, leadership, and purpose, both during incarceration and after release. The film also follows people whose experiences show that your past does not have to determine what comes next.
