About this content

Intro: With access to technology and social media, kids are becoming increasingly vulnerable to those who would exploit them or do them harm. This course gives practical advice and next steps for keeping kids safe as they navigate the digital world.

The problem of online enticement and online sexual exploitation of children is vast and ever-growing due to our increasing reliance on and use of the digital world. Enticement and sexual exploitation include a variety of situations including predators communicating with children online with the intent to commit a sexual offense, youth being groomed online, engaging in sexual conversations with a child or teen online, and receiving child sexual abuse images and videos online. This victimization takes place across every platform including messaging apps, social media, and gaming platforms.

In this course, parents and caregivers will learn practical techniques for empowering themselves and their kids to take action against online exploitation.

Next Steps: Even if you do not have regular contact with kids you care about, please encourage caregivers to take this same free course at https://us.learningacademy.hopeforjustice.org/ and share what you have learned and any concerns you may have. You can also talk about what you’ve learned during visitation hours or write a letter home to start communication.
