The New Wave Newsletter

Welcome to The New Wave, your trusted newsletter for inclusive, accurate, and insightful information on incarceration. Our dedicated team of writers and volunteers is committed to delivering the stories that matter most—locally, nationally, and globally. We aim to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and journalism in every issue we publish.

The New Wave, the official newsletter of the United Black Family Scholarship Foundation, is dedicated to advancing education as a catalyst for dismantling systemic racism and breaking cycles of poverty. Its mission is to provide actionable guidance for incarcerated individuals, nonprofits, grassroots, universities funders, and more on developing meaningful community-based programs while amplifying the voices and leadership of incarcerated intellectuals and program facilitators. Guided by our vision of community-driven solutions, the newsletter provides practical resources and advocacy to equip stakeholders in developing impactful community-based programs, while supporting incarcerated individuals in their transition into meaningful nonprofit roles pre- and post-release. As an action-oriented publication, The New Wave mobilizes knowledge, partnerships, and grassroots leadership to create lasting social and political change.
