The Playwriting Lab by Shining Light

Welcome to Shining Light’s Playwriting Lab! In this three video series you will:

• Be introduced to the basics of theater
• Learn techniques to write interesting and natural dialogue
• Complete a 5-page scene with the tools you need to plan a full length play

Dr. Rachel Tracie is a theater professor and experienced theater instructor in prisons nationwide. Her teaching style is easy to follow, supportive, and uses engaging examples like animation and scenes from plays written and performed by incarcerated artists.

In addition to learning about playwriting, each video will include one mindset tool called a “Creative Code”. These techniques can be applied to your creative journey and personal life to give you strategies to decrease stress and focus on your goals! Don't forget, the Video Companion Guide is built into the course and is available at all times. This is designed to explain key terms, clarify assignments, and help you visualize what you're learning as you go along. Unfortunately we are not able to send individual printed copies at this time.
