Most of this series focuses on organic chemistry, the chemistry of carbon-based molecules that make up living things, fuels, and medicines. You will learn how to name organic compounds and read their structures, including 3D and Fischer projections. You will also see how chemists build new molecules through reactions like ether synthesis, esterification, and aromatic substitution. This is the kind of chemistry that underlies nursing, pharmacy, and health science careers. It is college-level material, so a background in general chemistry is strongly recommended first.
