This series explores art from the 1700s, the Age of Enlightenment. You will see playful, romantic Rococo paintings by Boucher and Fragonard, and portraits by Reynolds, Copley, and Peale. You will also see the serious, heroic paintings of Jacques-Louis David, whose work reflected the ideals of the French Revolution. These works show how art changed as people began to question kings and value reason.
