Realism: Art History Videos

This series explores Realism, an art movement from the mid 1800s. Instead of heroes and myths, Realist artists painted ordinary people doing ordinary work. You will see Millet's farm workers, Courbet's village funeral, Bonheur's animals, and Winslow Homer's sea scenes. You will also see Manet and Degas, who painted modern city life in Paris.
