About this content

You already make art. This program helps you build a career from it.

Over 15 lessons, you'll develop the same professional materials that galleries, collectors, grant programs, and institutions use to evaluate and work with artists — an artist statement, biography, CV, and inventory of your work. You'll learn how to price your work, protect your rights, and tell your story in a way that opens doors.

The program is built around the real experiences of two working artists: Halim Flowers, who spent 22 years incarcerated and built an internationally recognized art practice after release, and Orlando Smith, a comics artist and illustrative journalist who has exhibited work in more than two dozen shows worldwide — all from inside San Quentin.

You don't need formal training, gallery connections, or internet access to start. You need your work, something to write with, and the willingness to take your practice seriously.

By the end, you'll have a complete professional packet ready to use — and a plan for what comes next.
