About this content

The Ear Hustle Workshop is a hands-on storytelling series led by Nigel Poor and Earlonne Woods, the creators of the Ear Hustle podcast. Drawing from their own experience building a show inside San Quentin, this series walks you through what it takes to plan, shape, and bring a storytelling project to life—starting from the very first idea.

In Module 1, you learn how Ear Hustle began and how the team clarified their project through an elevator pitch, a mission statement, a trailer, a signature sound, and creative workarounds for real-world limitations. Along the way, you’re invited to start developing your own project, step by step, using the same tools and questions they relied on.

Future modules will continue building from here, digging deeper into storytelling craft, production choices, and the realities of making creative work inside prison. This series isn’t about becoming famous or doing things “the right way.” It’s about finding your voice, telling stories that matter, and learning how to make something meaningful with what you have.

Whether you’re just getting started or already working on a project, this workshop is designed to help you think like a storyteller—and take your next step forward.
