Awareness Into Domestic Abuse (AIDA) is a self-reflective domestic abuse awareness and accountability course designed to help incarcerated learners examine the beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to abusive relationship patterns. Through 12 modules, participants are guided to explore personal commitment to change, self-awareness, core beliefs, negative thinking, triggers, forms of abuse, the cycle of violence, personal transformation, and the foundations of healthy relationships. The course uses open-ended reflection questions, written processing assignments, and declarations of commitment to encourage honesty, accountability, emotional regulation, and behavior change. Learners are challenged to identify how distorted beliefs and unhealthy coping patterns have impacted their relationships and to develop healthier ways of thinking, communicating, and responding.
