Creating the ripple: Where others see inmates, Larimer sees people
At Larimer County Jail, corrections is about more than confinement. It’s about community. The moment someone enters the facility, they’re not only detained, they’re welcomed into a culture of care designed to support growth, healing, and preparation for life beyond incarceration. Staff across security, programs, and medical work in close coordination, creating a culture that feels more like a family than a facility. “We’re all in here together,” one staff member shared. “So we try to make it feel like a family.”
The same mindset extends to those in custody. Through efforts like the Stone Soup initiative, where more than 70 local organizations collaborate on how to support residents during and after incarceration, Larimer fosters a truly community-based approach.
Edovo plays a key role in this model, providing a digital platform, available on ViaPath Technologies' tablets, where partners can share their resources and where learners can begin their reentry journey from day one. With 24/7 access to educational content and self-development tools, learners gain more than knowledge. They build pride, purpose, and a path forward.
Fast access for a fast-turning population
Because most people in Larimer County Jail are awaiting trial, many cycle in and out quickly, often within days. That makes immediate, flexible access to learning crucial. Edovo meets this need with content that’s available from day one, without requiring waitlists or in-person facilitation. “Individuals coming into prison and jails are ultimately going to be released,” said Lt. Staci Shaffer. “If you don’t support a rehabilitative journey, those individuals will return to your community not having learned, not having grown.” Edovo ensures that every person has the opportunity to engage in meaningful personal development, no matter how long they’re inside.

Community corrections benefits us all.
The majority of incarcerated people are going to return home to our collective communities. If we prepare people for the transition home while they are incarcerated, we're not only helping them, but we're also helping our communities.

Real transformation through community
You've heard it from the staff and learners at Larimer in the video. Change is happening, one ripple at a time.

Healing and hope: A path to personal transformation
For many incarcerated individuals, the experience of jail can reinforce cycles of anger, shame, and hopelessness. But for learners at Larimer County Jail, it’s also becoming a place where healing begins.
Take Marlen, for example: A mother who survived domestic violence and now uses her time to rebuild from the inside out. Through Edovo’s trauma and healing courses, she discovered not just coping tools, but a new sense of self.
“Its taught me so much that in the past I didn’t understand,” she said. “It’s just helped so much—the growth inside of me, to heal my inner self, and help find ways to heal my children.”
Marlen’s story isn’t an outlier. For many others, Edovo represents more than just time filled. It’s time well spent. Tyler, another learner, described it like this:
“Edovo is more than a platform. It’s almost a lifestyle that you can dive into and really transform yourself.”
That transformation is visible not just in the testimonials, but in the numbers. Since launching in March 2022, Edovo has facilitated over 120,000 hours of learning and more than 200,000 content completions at Larimer. The top areas of engagement? Jobs & Finance, Health & Recovery, categories that support both personal growth and reentry success.
Behind every certificate earned is a shift in mindset. Behind every course completed is a step toward healing.
